How To Be Irresistible Online
The Secret to being Irresistible Online
If you are single chances are pretty good you are dating online. According to a 2010 study, you statistically are less likely to find a future sweetheart at a bar, school or work than on the Internet.
But with so many people dating online, how can you be sure you stand out?
Let’s face it. You can write the most amazing dating profile ever penned, but no one will ever read it if they are not attracted to your picture first.
This can make your profile picture the pivotal factor for you to find love.
Love may be blind, but initial attraction is not. Therefore, there are a few things you can do to make sure you put your best face forward.
If you are a fan of the science of love, you already know the power of the color red. A red shirt or background increases the attraction factor for both men and women.
Also, for women, I already created a blog post on the importance of contrasting make-up. Dark color eyelids with a lighter color just underneath the brow as well as complementary color lipstick creates a more feminine face. This can help to increase instant attraction especially if the viewer is scanning.
But there are a few more tricks that science has uncovered to ramp up your romantic attractiveness.
A study out of Wake Forest University found that when looking at someone’s picture, a face showing the left cheek is more pleasant –looking and therefore more attractive. That goes for both men and women.
But don’t worry, if your favorite picture shows you right cheek, simply use a program to flip the picture. The study found a strong preference for left-side portraits, regardless of whether the pictures were originally taken on the left-side, or mirror-reversed.1
Although both men and women are attracted to left cheek, they respond very differently to smiling.
Not surprisingly, men are attracted to smiling, happy women and are least attracted to those who appear proud and confident. So you might want to avoid those Wonder woman stance pictures.
Although the majority of the women say they want a funny, happy man, women are least attracted to smiling cheerful men. A study at University of British Columbia found women are more attracted to men who look proud and powerful, (which may not be that surprising). But, what is surprising is that the study found women were most attracted to moody men. The study believed these findings help explain the allure of the stereotypical brooding bad boy type.2
Oh and guys there is one more thing you can do to increase your clickability. Get rid of the gym pictures. Women are least attractive to sporty-looking men. A study from the University of South Brittany found that a man holding a gym bag was a turn-off. The gym-bag men had a 9% success rate, compared to 14% success rate of men holding nothing. But, if you feel better with a prop, may I suggest a guitar. The study found the success rate of the man holding a guitar case jumped to 31%.
So guys, next time you are taking a profile picture, may I suggest getting a nice red background, a guitar, and put on your best scowl. I guess this explains why after creating Adam Levine Maroon 5 album cover with his red background, guitar and far way look, Adam Levine was voted People’s sexiest man alive.
